HAPPY WHALENTINE’S ART CONTEST FOR MAUI NUI KEIKI
This year’s Whale Tales is going virtual (online) February 13-14 and you’re invited to be a part of it!
Ocean ambassador Abby Rogers joins the Whale Trust team to invite Maui Nui keiki to be a part of this year’s Whale Tales through a Whalentine’s Day Art Contest.
Whale Tales is a community outreach event presented annually by Whale Trust. Whale Tales – A Virtual Experience will be broadcast online February 13-14 (Valentine’s Day Weekend) and will feature international marine scientists, videographers, and photographers sharing the latest in whale and ocean research.
The Whale Tales team is inviting Maui Nui keiki (grades K-12) to submit art for a whale-themed valentine series to celebrate and honor humpback whales and their ocean home. Art should reflect “caring for people, whales, and the environment.”
Winning art will be featured in digital and printed “Whalentine” cards before and during the event. Each entry will receive a free pass to attend the online event and winners will be invited to participate in a keiki discussion panel during Whale Tales. Contest is open to students under 18.
Entries must be hand-drawn, painted, or colored and fit on an 8.5 x 11 paper. Submissions must be received by January 21st and winners will be announced by January 25th via social media. Two winners will be selected from each of four school grade ranges: K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th.
